Description

The ABB AF580-30-22 is a three pole AC contactor from the AF series with a 100 to 250 V AC/DC wide range coil. It switches motors up to 315 kW at 400 V in AC-3 duty and is rated 580 A AC-3 at 55 degrees C. The device carries three normally open main contacts and four built in auxiliary contacts (2 NO + 2 NC). A wide band electronic coil accepts both AC and DC control voltage without a separate rectifier, and built in surge suppression removes the need for external coil protection. Typical uses include large motor starters, pump and compressor control, HVAC plant and heavy material handling equipment.

The ABB AF series covers contactors from 9 A to 1500 A AC-3 and was introduced as the successor to the A, AE, EH and ES families. All AF contactors share an electronic wide band coil that accepts 100 to 250 V AC or DC as standard on the -13 variants, a compact moulded housing design, pre-mounted auxiliary contact blocks and the same AF accessory programme (side mounted auxiliary contacts, suppression units, mechanical interlocks and terminal shrouds). Frames from AF09 up to AF96 use identical auxiliary contact blocks, which simplifies stocking.
